That LEGO, always ingenious. Today they released their first official LEGO branded iPad app, LEGO Creationary. The app offers fans of its new constructible board games a digital way to play while staying true to the original board game version of Creationary, which tests how quickly players can guess what is being built from LEGO bricks. Players “roll” the LEGO dice to find out which of the 4 randomly selected categories they are guessing: nature, vehicles, buildings or things. The game starts you off building an object from that category out of LEGO bricks, and players must guess which of the four possible answers is correct by tapping the illustration…

Behind the Scenes at the New LEGO Flagship Store in NYC
Next week in New York, LEGO will celebrate the opening of its massive LEGO flagship store and we’re the first to get an exclusive preview of the store! It’s not just the opening celebration of the store that will be offering great activities for families and kids. The LEGO store will have activities for kids all year around. For starters, on the first tuesday of every month there will be a Mini Model Build where kids can come and learn how to build a mini model and then take it home for free. These models will not be for sale and each month they’ll have their own theme.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Schaumburg Hosts 3-Day LEGO Beach Party for Memorial Day Weekend
If only we had found out in advance, then I might actually consider going to this…the LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Schaumberg, Chicago will be hosting a 3-Day LEGO Beach Party for Memorial Day Weekend. The party will include the opportunity to build sandcastles out of sand-colored LEGO bricks imported just for the occasion. The LEGOLAND Discovery Center will be transformed into a summer getaway from top to bottom. A LEGO beach will be set up for young LEGO architects to let their sandcastle imaginations run wild. The Center’s popular MINILAND Chicago skyline will feature a beach scene starring Lake Michigan as the latest local landmark to be recreated LEGO-style.

About a month ago a bunch of us where invited to test out LEGO’s new addition to the LEGO family – LEGO Games. Basically the concept is simple – take those infamous blocks and minifigs and then add a die and you have a board game made of LEGOS for your family to enjoy. LEGO wanted to create a family game that incorporates the charm of LEGO and yet brings families together for an hour or so of fun without the TV or computer being on.

World’s Biggest Lego Super Mario Bros. Auctioned Off for Charity
When it comes to giant LEGO sculptures, we generally can’t get enough of them. But these latest ones are especially up our alley. Dirk VH has built the world’s biggest LEGO Super Mario, and he is now auctioning it off for charity on eBay. This marvelous LEGO creation is composed of 40,000 LEGO bricks, a 6 foot tall Mario, and it weighs a total of 110 pounds.
