Last week at CES, Griffin unveiled a whole slew of new folios, cases, and accessories in tandem with Nickelodeon, including products bearing SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Dora the Explorer.
Wisely, Griffin points out that the new accessories might appeal just as much to adults as they do to kids – in fact, they claim that one-third of those watching SpongeBob are adults, but I’m guessing that goes well beyond the parents who are just watching with their kids. Griffin is guessing that too, releasing an 8-bit style folio featuring characters from SpongeBob, which is made to fit the iPad. SpongeBob comes to the iPhone 5 and fifth generation iPod Touch in the form of Faces, a set of cases featuring the yellow wonder. You’ll be able to swap out parts of SpongeBob’s face to change up his mood, using the mix of six eye pieces and three mouth pieces that come with the case. Skins are just your standard silicone cases, and will be available for both the iPhone 5 and the fifth generation iPod Touch. The SpongeBob Woogie is more directly aimed at the younger crowd, and is based on previous Griffin products. It’s a plush doll with a transparent Velcro compartment in the middle where any number of mobile devices can be slipped in.
For the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the iPhone 5 and iPod Touch will get the Shell (could it be any other way?), a hard case that will protect against drops and the Shredder (I’m just assuming, I don’t think they’ve tested for that one yet). There will also be an iPad folio done up like a turtle shell that fans can get in on.
Dora the Explorer will get her own soft, silicone case, but that one will just be for the fifth generation iPod Touch.
All that Nickelodeon goodness will hit stores sometime this spring. The folios will come in at $50, while all of the cases and the SpongeBob Woogie will be sold for $30.
