PBS Celebrates Dr. Seuss’ 108th Birthday With the Cat in the Hat

This March, the world will mark the 108th year since the rhyming magician that was Dr. Seuss came into the world, leaving children everywhere the better for it. PBS is launching a birthday party in his honor, on television and mobile devices.

On March 2nd, PBS will run a two hour marathon of “The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That,” including two new episodes of the science-themed kids’ show. “The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That” is an effort to get 2-5 year old kids excited about learning science later on when they start school, and has ranked in the top 10 of kids’ shows for that age range since it started airing in September of 2010.

After the marathon, kids and their parents can go mobile with the PBS Kids Video App to check out video clips from all four episodes, and parents can take a look at the Birthday Party Builder Tool. That app, which will be released on March 1st, offers recommendations for decorations, activities, and more based on the preferences of the parents and the children alike.

Fans of the show and newcomers alike should join the party on March 2nd – you never know, you might have the next Einstein in your care!
