Warner Bros. has announced a new Sesame Street series video game called Ready, Set, Grover. This action-style game focuses on Rover and is aimed at helping preschoolers learn and develop healthy habits for life by interacting with their favorite Sesame Street characters. In the game Grover sets out to create a series of challenges designed to help his Sesame Street friends get up and go. Along the way, Elmo and Abby jump over obstacles, row a boat, and play “Grover Says,” all while learning important life lessons. The game also serves to promotes physical activity, good nutrition, personal hygiene, and the importance of rest and relaxation. A “Parent’s Page” section of the game is also included where parents can review the games their child has played along with curriculum goals.
“Building lifelong healthy habits starts in early childhood. Sesame Street: Ready, Set, Grover! gets kids up and moving though stretching, jumping and dancing, models good hygiene practices and highlights the benefits of healthy food choices through fun and active game play,” said Rosemarie Truglio, Ph.D., Vice President, Education and Research, Sesame Workshop.
Sesame Street: Ready, Set, Grover will be available for Wii and Nintendo DS this summer and also comes equipped with specially designed Grover-themed gameplay helpers.
