Tweens Transform Old Bike Parts into Jewelry

A group of young girls in Long Island City, Queens, have embarked on a fun and very artistic green project. The tweens, mostly aged 12, have taken old bicycle parts and have transformed them into jewelry – like bracelets, and charms. The girls participating in this project have been attending the recycling activities at theĀ  the Green Girls summer institute run by the City Parks Foundation which is held in conjunction with Recycle-A-Bicycle. Kudos to these two organizations for coming up with such a creative way to get kids and their community, thinking about recycling and being green.

“I feel good about helping the environment. This is where we live, this is our community. We should be able to change it in a good way,” said Kasandra Hagler.
