Leapfrog has come out with a new handheld gaming device for kids, and this one doesn’t just play games – it’s also an e-book reader and video player. The new Leapster Explorer features a 3.2″ 420×420 touch screen that can play 3D graphics and flash-based games. The Explorer will be available on July 12th with 12 games at launch and 18 Leaplet Learning Apps. The system itself will retail for $69.99, and game cartridges will go for $24.95. Looking ahead, in the fall, a special camera accessory will be also be available that will further utilize the Explorer’s capabilities by unlocking new gaming experiences.
