Polaroid, of instant camera fame, is releasing the follow up to their original kids’ tablet, and it’ll be all ready to go in time for holiday shopping season. It’s boasting more of the same, plus a few spec upgrades that make this tablet worthy of consideration.
The Polaroid Kids’ Tablet 2 runs a version of Android 4.2 that has been tweaked to better suit kids. The tablet has a 1024 x 600 resolution display, and runs on a dual-core 1.6 GHz Cortex A9 processor with 1 GB of DDR3 RAM. There are also front and rear cameras, Wi-Fi connectivity, and 8 GB of storage with a Micro SD card slot. The Kids Cam app is a kid-friendly photo editing app, which lets kids uses basic tools and filters to play around with the photos they take with the tablet. A DJ app lets kids mix and create their own music.
70 apps and games come pre-installed on the tablet, including reading material from Disney, Marvel, and Cartoon Network. When kids finally do want to grab their own apps, they’ll do so through the App Shop, an app store that has been curated to be kid-friendly, and features both paid and free apps. There will also be web filters on the web browser that parents can use to keep their kids safe while going online. For younger kids who are going to be watching videos or playing games, a display lock is there to make sure they don’t accidentally exit apps.
The Polaroid Kids’ Tablet 2 is available now online or in stores at Toys’R’Us, and is selling for $150.
