S.M.A.R.T. Adventures is a new series of app games just getting started, from developer Kata Enterprises. The series as a whole will set about getting girls excited about math, science, and technology, while encouraging confidence.
The first game in the series is called ‘Mission: MATH…Sabotage at the Space Station,’ and, as the name implies, is centered around teaching and reinforcing math skills. The story features female characters in prominent roles on the Space Station Prime, where all manner of havoc has been wreaked. Players will need to fix up science labs and repair communications system on their way to getting the station fully operational again, while figuring out what went wrong.
Of course, math takes center stage. Players will work on their fractions, decimals, factors, and multiples, while learning how to read and interpret bar graphs. Besides the math puzzles to solve, players will get their own player avatar that they can customize as they progress through the story. And, despite the suspicion that ‘avatar customization’ might arouse, worry not – there are no in-app purchases possible in the S.M.A.R.T. Adventures series.
‘Mission: MATH…Sabotage at the Space Station‘ is a premium app, and is only available on the iPad for $7.99.
