Calculators and calculator apps, for all their robustness, haven’t done too much in the way of making it easy to input and compute fractions. That was a problem for 12-year-old Isabel Hughes, who’s at that age where fractions are an inevitability. So, she took matters into her own hands.
Her and her father, a software developer, co-wrote an app, Fraction Calculator Plus, which is by far the easiest way to perform simple functions with fractions. There are three sets of 0-9 keys – one bar on the left side for whole numbers, and two boxes on the right side for fractions. The upper box is for the numerator, while the lower box is for the denominator. There’s a row on the bottom for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. And, that’s pretty much it. That’s pretty much all students Isabel’s age want, and she has delivered.
Fraction Calculator Plus is available for Kindle on the Amazon App Store for $0.99.
