dsc0238 300x199 Picture This! Workshop Shows Off EXILIM EX S12 Dynamic Photo Function

What has to be one of the most unique marketing moves I have seen in awhile, Casio yesterday sponsored a workshop called ‘Picture This!’ to show off their newest feature for their latest camera, the EXILIM EX-S12. It is the first digital camera to utilize Dynamic Photo function, a new technology developed by Casio that allows a subject (moving or still) to be photographed and placed into a new background without editing on a computer.

Sponsored at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. Kids along with parents lined up to have their picture taken and brought along their favorite book or work of art to have their image transferred onto it as a background.  A lot of kids chose to be with their faves like Elmo, Winnie the Pooh, and the occasional rainbow. No green screen was involved, but just a white background. A quick snap of the child (when they weren’t crying) and a quick snap of the book or picture that the child wanted to be digitally imaged on to, and within minutes it was reproduced in the camera. Then the picture was quickly printed out on a local printer. The Casio reps even put it in a frame for the kids and parents if they wanted.

The kids left happy and many of the parents were happy with the results. This was a great forum for kids and parents to see how easy this new technology works and the best part; it doesn’t require much technical expertise for the busy mom or dad.
