The Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera for Boys/Girls is the perfect camera for preschoolers. It is sturdy and durable, so it won’t break, and its chunky grips and large buttons make it easy to use for three and four year olds. The camera has an LCD preview screen. The 8 MB of built-in memory will hold up to 60 photos, and the camera has an SD memory slot to expand the memory. The camera takes 640×480 resolution, 4×6″ prints. A CD with software is included to upload photos to a PC or Mac. Choose a blue or pink camera, each retails for $59.99.

The resolution is low though, so understand that going in. Many kids camera have this resolution, a lower resolution than this or do not indicate a resolution at all. See this digital camera resolution chart on B&H, a imaging retailer for professionals and consumers, to understand what you’re getting as you evaluate cameras.

Bottom line, it’s all about fun. Fisher Price has been making toys since 1930 so they must be doing something right. For a 3 year old it’s a pretty good starter camera. Once the child develops a love for photography there are better cameras to graduate to.
