Today, we attended the launch of BarbieGirls.com, an interactive online community for girls that fuses fashion, music and friendship in both the real and virtual worlds. And boy, no girl, were we impressed! Once registered online, girls can design their own virtual Barbie Girl; decorate her room; shop at the mall for furniture and clothes; visit the café and park; play games; chat with other girls online and more. We just loved it. But, don’t take our word for it. Girls can register today for FREE at BarbieGirls.com to try it out. The site will always be FREE, according to Mattel.
What We Like: Girls enter a screen name and password only when registering. Girls are encouraged not to use their real name, but to make up a name. Girls also are encouraged to ask their parent’s permission before playing. The chat feature keeps chat appropriate and prevents personal information, such as a child’s name, phone number or address from being given out to anyone unknown to the parent.
We have posted several screen shots so you can visualize the experience. We will also post on the products first available in July that will enhance the online and offline experience and add a musical element. So, read on!
